Happy Birthday Granola

14 Apr

It was my sister-in-laws birthday this week so it was time to get making again.

This one was a no brainer. I had made some Granola for my father-in-law back in February and Mrs B told me this is what she would like too.

This is what I did.

100g rolled oats
75g mixed nuts
25g mixed seeds
25g desiccated coconut
75g mixed fruit
2 1/2 tbs maple syrup
drizzling of sunflower oil

Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees c.
Spread all your dry ingredients into an oven proof container leaving out the fruit. Drizzle over the syrup and oil and stir. Place in the oven for about 30 mins, taking out every 5 to stir with a wooden spoon.
Once the mixture is golden and toasted remove from the oven, stirring in the fruit and leave to cool completely.
Once cool place into an air tight container. Add a pretty ribbon. Done!

You can change the maple syrup to honey if you like and also add a little ground Cinnamon if you have some knocking around to add a lovely warm, spicy element.

It smells and tastes delicious and also makes a great crumble topping too!
