Coat of Arms-A Rainy Day Activity

22 Aug

It was a wet morning this morning.

The children had been brilliant and entertained themselves while I got on with some jobs.

By lunchtime they were starting to get a bit fed up.

I had some round pieces of card that had come from one of Liv’s birthday presents. My friend Lu had suggested making our own Coat of Arms with it a couple of weeks ago and I filed the idea away for the future.

I thought I would give it a go this afternoon, basing  it on the hubby’s side of the family which has some of its roots in Wales, Leicester, Chester and Sonnerburg (Germany).

So after a bit of Googling, I did some careful (ropey) drawings.

For older children you could get them to do the research and the drawings.

We all sat at the table with felt pens and got colouring.

I have to say The Bo and I really enjoyed doing the colouring. Liv enjoyed it for a bit but then the drawer of Pepper Pig became too strong.

I suppose we should choose a family motto for it next. What do you think?
